Picture Carousel

I am having a lot of trouble with the new photo carousel. When I try to rearrange the photos (because they never seem to go in the way I want them to) and delete ones I don't want so i can fix the order, they just reappear (and in the same spot) when I update or add a different photo. This has caused my last two posts to have the wrong picture as the main one because I couldn't fix it. I originally thought it didn't matter because of the featured image but it that doesn't seem to affect the order at all. I really need help trying to fix this because it is making organizing my posts extremely difficult.
